Mars is the fourth planet from the sun and is known as the red planet. The planet appears as red due to the iron in its rocks are oxidising and dust on the planet gives it a rust colour

History

Mars is believed to be around 4,603 Billion years old, named by the Romans after their God of war. It is believed that in its early life was ts surface by a third water, Water still exists today on its north pole as ice.
